We take the idea of a butterfly that flaps its wings and everything changes, and that’s exactly what happens in this painting-turned-cinema. A butterfly arrives and upsets all the daily harmony of these beings who live around a fountain in a garden.
This short film by Sunčana Brkulj focuses on the idea of community and how each element of it works for the common good because everyone benefits from the resources. When the cycle works, the harmony of colours and figures is fluid. When the cycle doesn’t work, other options have to be found. Butterfly‘s great strength is not only the joyful use of colour but the attention to detail in every inch of the canvas, where we see precisely everyone’s contribution to a cycle that focuses on a source, be it water or milk, in which everyone has their specific task.
