The Portuguese Film Fund, created in 2011, is an initiative of IndieLisboa – Cultural Association and aims to be a complementary instrument to support the post-production of Portuguese films.
Eligibility requirements
Eligible projects may be short or feature films, regardless of genre (fiction, documentary, animation or experimental), in the early stages of post-production (alignment or editing almost complete) at the time of application. The authors must be Portuguese filmmakers (or foreign nationals with permanent residence in Portugal) and the production must be Portuguese. Candidate projects may have obtained other support (namely ICA, Fundação GDA), with a guaranteed quota of 30% for low-budget projects.
Partners
IndieLisboa is joined by partners Lusófona University, dmix collective, Fundação GDA, The Bertini Colors and Portugal Film – Agência Internacional de Cinema Português. The partners will contribute services or direct funding, and Portugal Film will participate in order to show international programmers and distributors projects that are currently in progress, in the context of Lisbon Screenings, private screenings of unreleased Portuguese films, specially organised for these international guests.
How it works
A committee made up of members from all partner organisations will select 12 projects from all valid applications received. The 12 selected projects will be presented to an international jury during the IndieLisboa festival, where excerpts from the works will be screened and the teams behind each film will give a pitch.
Awards & Distinctions
Lusófona University of Humanities and Technologies (ULHT) will award €1,500 in financial support to a documentary film project as part of the European FilmEU + and C-Accelerate + projects;
The GDA Foundation will award financial support in the amount of €6,000 for the creation of original music, rewarding one feature film (€4,000) and one short film (€2,000), or alternatively three short films (€2,000 each);
dmix collective will provide sound post-production services for two projects: one feature film and one short film;
Bertini Colors, an image post-production studio, will provide post-production support for a short film – image support consists of two days of colour correction and colourist work;
Portugal Film – International Portuguese Film Agency, will present excerpts from the projects selected for Lisbon Screenings – an event promoting Portuguese cinema, with the participation of international programmers, distributors and buyers, with preference given to the promotion, international distribution and sales of the supported films.
