A diptych by João Canijo that went through the most recent Berlin Festival: Mal Viver in the main competition, having received the Silver Bear, and Viver Mal in the Encounters section. Canijo, who has always shot difficult material, explores what happens in mother-daughter relationships where love is lacking. With its double perspective, a film in two parts, the anchor is a hotel. Where Mal Viver focuses on owners, Viver Mal focuses on guests.
