The Summer With Carmen

A queer comedy that begins on a gay cruising Greek beach, but where the idea is no longer to relax but to work. Work on an idea for a film, a first feature. This is the premise for an exploration of the world of two best friends, Demosthenes and Nikitas (the director in search of inspiration), in which the past becomes inspiration and the plot of the future film is tied to a dog called Carmen.

The Survivors

In the mid-19th century, a group of survivors from a wrecked slave ship, both black and white, end up on a deserted island, lost somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean. The fight for survival and power will flip the moral and social values of those days. The Survivors tells the story of how masters and enslaved people may or may not coexist under extreme circumstances.

The Vourdalak

An emissary from the Crown gets lost in a forest. He is taken in by a family who are waiting for a father they fear dead, until a figure shrouded in death appears, claiming to be the long-awaited patriarch. The myth of a vampire figure emerges and is realised within this family, where our unsuspecting Marquis d’Urfé is found. Artifice and theatricality are the threads that sew together this fascinating adaptation of the vampire’s folkloric cousin, the Balkan vourdalak.

C. Tangana is a global phenomenon. He’s also an artist who values his ability to write lyrics, who doesn’t feel totally part of hip hop culture, who likes Tolstoy and who thinks he can’t sing — but does it anyway. C. Tangana is a Spanish rapper that has conquered the world and now presents his vulnerability as an artist in a documentary about the production of a concert, in a struggle between artistic vision and logistical limitations.

Through Rocks And Clouds

A boy from Peru, herding alpacas, dreams of the national football team going to the World Cup in Russia, in 2018. His two friends are an alpaca called Ronaldo and a dog called Rambo. In the midst of the child’s utopian dreams, something darker is happening in the village where he lives, because the lake is being polluted. When Ronaldo disappears, everything begins to take on a more serious shape.

The film focuses on the Uruguayan urban left-wing guerrillas, the so-called Tupamaros, and was filmed at the height of their operation and within their members — the filming was clandestine and carried out by various people who didn’t know the real purpose of the film, which shows the history of the struggle and the desperation that led to the guerrillas’ operationalisation.
