A freak accident causes Satake’s death. Asagi, her friend, is distraught by the incident, but the rest of the friend group seems significantly less affected by the loss. The friction that is created calls for a change, a cut, a break.
Asagi finds herself on the roof of her school with her classmates. One of them mentions Satake, a close friend of the group who died unexpectedly. Asagi feels uncomfortable at the brief, casual mention of Satake. The group seems to have moved on, but Asagi is not in the same place emotionally. Her grief takes the form of a haunting that gradually deteriorates her mental sanity and, subsequently, that of the rest of the group. This is Iwasaki Yusuke’s first film and he already has an extremely confident grip on how to create tension without losing his emotional anchor. (Rui Mendes)
