As cinema is a multidisciplinary art form, the practical component plays an essential role. These activities aim to provide workshops with professionals from the sector, combining practice with reflection and a playful-pedagogical approach. At the same time, the aim is to stimulate the interest and curiosity of education professionals, arts students and students from other areas.

1) Workshops for children, young people, seniors and families
1.1) Families
Baby Cinema Workshops (1-3 years old)
Encourage an encounter with the first moving images, through their different stimuli such as colors, light, sounds and through the exploration of physical materials in a space for playing and feeling.
Peek-a-boo, I spy with my little eye! (Or is it through the camera?)
(5-8 years old)
Through lots of games of peek-a-boo and showing and telling, we will talk about what it means to choose a point of view, a shot, a landscape, to begin telling a story about the reality that surrounds us. We will look at some examples of short films that have marked the history of cinema, discover some entertaining examples and, based on that, explore ideas and make a short film.
1.2) Schools
Film Initiation Workshop (6-10 years old)
Through the presence and direct relationship with film professionals, who are guests and mediators of the workshop, it is proposed to explore one or more areas associated with the making of a film, such as sound, photography, editing, etc.
Documentary Film Workshop (8-14 years old)
Using photographic archives, moving images from amateur or professional films, newspapers and other visual documents, conditions are created to understand and create documentary cinema, adapted to the local reality.
2) Training for Teachers and Educational Agents
Short- and long-term actions
Film Programming Workshop (adults, teachers, mediators, etc)
Led by a film programmer, this workshop aims to underline the importance of helping children and young people to use, enjoy and understand moving images, so that they are empowered not only technically, but also and above all culturally.

Cinema in Childhood (teachers)
This training is based on the belief that cinema should be approached as art rather than communication, and that childhood is a period marked by visuality, experimentation, discovery, and play. If we desire cinema from childhood, it is because through it we can invent ways of seeing and being in the world that can ‘shake up’ a certain established order. Cinema invents other worlds; it does not merely provide us with beauty, comfort, or harmony.
How to choose which films to show children? How to expose children to this encounter? Does a childhood education in cinema involve an introduction to creation?
Throughout the course, each trainee will have the opportunity to express opinions and feelings and develop a critical view of the films they watch, learn about strategies and teaching tools appropriate for early childhood education, and propose an activity based on a film of their choice.

3) Workshops Cineclub – with cinema professionals
Script writing (high school students)
After watching the short film “Amor, Avenidas Novas”, we invited director Duarte Coimbra to lead a workshop with a class, focused on the collective construction of a story and its subsequent adaptation into a film script. The workshop will be accompanied by the Portuguese language course, allowing students to explore a new form of narrative expression — in this case, the screenplay — which is essential for the development of a film. This interdisciplinary approach reinforces the connection between literary language and audiovisual language, showing students the creative and communicative potential of cinema as a form of writing and meaning construction.

Cinema in Hand Workshop (10-15 years old)
In this workshop, students learn how to construct a short story and turn it into a film using their mobile phones. Starting with simple ideas that can be filmed in the surrounding area, students develop a short narrative, create a basic script, choose the shots and distribute roles (between directing, writing and acting). This workshop shows, in practice, how it is possible to make films with few resources, stimulating creativity, teamwork and audiovisual expression.

Workshop One Plan, One Story (high school students)
In this workshop, students are challenged to tell a story using only one shot. In the first phase, fundamental technical concepts of cinema will be introduced: what is a shot? How is it constructed? What does a high-angle or low-angle shot convey? Is it possible to tell a story using only one long shot? Based on these reflections and practical examples, participants will plan and film their own scene, without resorting to editing or cuts. At the end, the works will be shared and screened as a group, promoting debate and analysis among colleagues.
