The importance of the concept of precarious is linked to the class of the “badly employed” (the exploited, underemployed and temporary workers). But the “precariat” (if we want to unite the concepts of proletariat and precariousness) is everywhere, an immense labour force on a global scale, defined by an idea of tenuous connection with the conditions that contemporary capitalism demands, underlining the way in which the decline of workers’ protection influences the dignity of those who try to survive in a society where the person is stripped of much of their human identity.
