Works and Nights

Days and nights and nights and days. The days go by and the grief is still going on and draining away. If this film were a record, it would be that record that we keep, our little secret, that we take off the shelf when we’re down, that we play whenever we’re sad, and that seems to momentarily heal us, to listen to alone, in the darkness of our grief that won’t go away, until one day a light comes on, which it always does. Luiz Afonso Morêda’s film manages to create an atmosphere of deep melancholy that will stay with us for longer than its 14 minutes. (Carlos Ramos)
