Everything happens on the screen. In Ploo, an elderly owner of a vector-technology shop confronts the idea of death with the precious help of a moth. The human condition, too, is a matter of mathematics.
In Ploo, John Frickey takes us on a not-so-linear journey between vectors and pixels. In constant narrative and stilistic leaps, we find the human being chasing infinity while trapped in loops, like a moth to a flame.
This film, despite being full of poetry and nostalgia, quickly forces us to accept that there are things beyond our immediate perception and understanding.
Nothing like vibrant animation, humor, and some mathematics to remind us of our ephemeral nature. After all, the credits can only roll when there is an end in sight. (Sara da Cruz)
