Organza is an artist, but even in space, it’s hard to live off one’s art. The difficulties compound and the solution seems to be only one: revenge. But revenge can be a journey along which one meets creatures that point to another possible destination.
Harsh, resentful, and a terrible shipmate, Organza is a failed artist in a galaxy not so far away. According to her naturopath, there’s only one cure for her nervous colitis: to find and kill her ex-lover. With a deliberately handmade, nostalgic, and punk aesthetic, Organza’s Revenge dresses up as a sci-fi adventure to satirize — with biting humor — the anxieties, egos, and vampiric figures of the art world, turning that critique into a mirror for a range of serious (both timeless and timely) concerns: the role of gatekeepers, the crushing machine of artistic aspiration, the handling of identity politics, and more. In the end, Organza’s intergalactic crusade will lead her to discover that there may be more value in embracing her vulnerability than in pursuing revenge. (Cláudia Marques)
