Portugal, 1872. The Emperor of Brazil, Pedro II, travels to the city of Porto, and stays at the Grand Hotel du Louvre, property of Maria Henriqueta de Mello Lemos e Alvelos. In the present day, the attempt to make a film about this episode becomes an invocation. A good haunting.
A curiously banal episode takes us to the middle of the 19th century, during a visit to Porto by the Emperor of Brazil, D. Pedro II. Letters exchanged with the owner of the Grande Hotel do Louvre, Maria Henriqueta de Mello Lemos e Alvelos, are introduced into this story to refine the details of the stay. The hotel is the centrepiece and the sound takes us inside, intensifying in a dramatic line that accompanies the unusual outcome of the situation. (Carlota Gonçalves)
