A Good Day

Tiago Rosa-Rosso

Portugal
2025, 20'

António wakes up to find an exact replica of himself floating inanimate in the pool. Without explanation, he and his family try to deal with the confusion, mistrust and a sense of mourning that settles in between them. Between absurdity and conflict, life goes on, undisturbed, as if not much had changed.

What if one day you find your double dead in your swimming pool and the whole family is planning to mourn him? Starting from this absurd situation, filmmaker Tiago Rosa-Rosso, who has already accustomed us to ambiguous, ambivalent and strange situations in his films, once again takes the water to his mill, proposing a comedy of surprises, in an obvious theatrical game, in which a holiday home becomes a real stage. Little by little, the film turns into a kind of comic tragedy in which the protagonist seems to be living a reality that is beyond him. And the more the protagonist tries to understand the situation, the more he seems to bury himself in an idea of Kafkaesque absurdity, from which there is no possible way out in which everyone will emerge unscathed. But Rosa-Rosso masters this theatre game and its actors, making us believe in the impossible. (Miguel Valverde)
