ACCESSIBLE SCREENINGS

In collaboration with the MEO Foundation, IndieLisboa is expanding the number of sections offering accessibility features this year. These features will be available on screen or via an app. The app allows audiences to access closed captions and audio description.

With the continued support of the MEO Foundation, other film screenings feature descriptive subtitles and Portuguese Sign Language interpretation embedded directly within the film itself.

DESCRIPTIVE SUBTITLES and PORTUGUESE SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETATION* (On Screen):
– All screenings in the IndieJúnior school programme for Years 10–13
– Feature film “Olivia and the Invisible Earthquake” from the IndieJúnior section

DESCRIPTIVE SUBTITLES* (In the App):
– All short and feature-length film screenings in the National Competition.

AUDIO DESCRIPTION* (In the app):
All IndieMusic sessions.

*Closed captions, Portuguese Sign Language interpretation and audio description are only available in Portuguese.

*For screenings at Cinema São Jorge that use descriptive subtitles via the Sentido app and require a mobile phone, tickets – including a companion ticket if required – must be purchased directly at the cinema box office.

To watch films in the IndieMusic and National Competition sections and use the accessibility features, you will need to bring a mobile device with the app downloaded.

Tripods will be available in the festival venues so that anyone can position their mobile device inside the venue and next to their seat, allowing them to access content more comfortably.

HOW TO USE THE APP

Select your preferred display mode (Audio Description, LGP or Subtitles).

Select the visual and sensory preferences for the app (Vibration, Text Size and Contrast).

A page will appear where you can enter a QR code or the alphanumeric code.

Click on the “Skip this page” button. This will take you to the homepage, where you can access the Cinema catalogue page.

Click on the film you want and download the content.

After a short wait, this button will change to “View Content”; click it to activate access.

You will be asked to grant microphone access so that the audio can be synchronised automatically with the film. It is this synchronisation that will enable the app to activate the accessibility feature.

If the app stops synchronising, click the button with the refresh symbol.

For further information, please refer to the User Manual.

Tripods can be requested at the ticket offices or information desks in the venues, and a member of the festival staff will assist you in setting them up in one of the designated areas.
