The Serbian director’s feature debut is a tribute to his late mother. Stefan Djordjevic deals with this death by mixing fiction and fact, images he filmed of his mother and a meeting, in the present, of the whole family. While working on a project that pays tribute to her, they talk (and don’t talk) about the good, the bad and the painful. In the mix is a lost dog that will become part of the family and the grieving process.
The interlocutor in the title WIND, TALK TO ME is the wind itself. The response arrives in the form of a poetic film that steers clear of sentimentality through a steady camera and a sensitive stitching of remnants of images and sounds. In his debut, Stefan Djordjevic works with archival footage from a project originally conceived as a documentary about his mother. After her death, this material is re-signified and interwoven with new images to construct an intimate reliquary: a cinematic gesture from a filmmaker-son in search of the answers his mother—now a character—left scattered like whispers in the air. Around his camera orbit nature, family, affections, and memories—fragments of life the wind insists on returning.
