Gisberta, a immigrant trans woman, receives the news that she is HIV positive, causing her to lose all her sources of income and become homeless and addicted. In the building where she finds shelter, she is approached by an extremely aggressive young group.
After discovering she was HIV-positive, Gisberta’s life turned into a living nightmare, at a time when she was already in a very vulnerable position. A trans woman, Brazilian and an immigrant, she was tortured in 2006 and then left for dead in a well by a group of young men in Porto.
Since then, Gisberta has become an important symbol of the fight against transphobia and, more broadly, of the LGBTQIA+ struggles. This moving animation portrays her tragic end and pays tribute to her. (Catherine Boutaud)
