Through improvisation, we emerge into a visual and aural experience, where we follow a musician. Reflection, Improvisation is a film that introduces Gabriel Ferrandini, one of the biggest names on drums in Portugal. We follow his work from rehearsals to the production of his new album.

In Black and White, Reflection, Improvisation follows the making of an album featuring duets between drums and saxophone. With a jazzy rhythm, the film explores improvisation as a form of creation. Sound, silence, and repetition intertwine in an intimate and ever-changing process. (Liedson Carvalho)

I can see Jay there

I first met Jay at Kanaal40, a bar located in Amsterdam’s Warmoesstraat. I worked behind the bar, Jay worked as a security guard at the door. At the threshold of the club, Jay found a sense of security: a space to express themselves and explore who they want to be. Even after the bar closed its doors, the experience continued to shape Jay’s life in deeply personal ways.
