Arielle and Myriam contemplate and philosophize — their eyes fixed beyond, into the star-strewn darkness. They reflect on love, the sacrifices it demands, and the madness it can inspire. Two divas in a tribute to the very origins of cinema.
Complementing “The Blood Countess” is this short film by Spanish producer/director Lluis Miñarro, in which two other divas of French cinema, Arielle Dombasle and Myriam Maziérès, remain in a static shot, talking with one another whilst gazing at the sky, as the world seems to pass them by. The red reflected in the tone of their conversation—provocative, sharp and wonderfully seductive—allows the viewer to enter a game of double meanings, where nothing is what it seems and even the most original form from the early days of cinema now takes on a new sophistication. “If love is always utterly mad”, then what shall I give you?
