The first crush is the deepest. The girls in this movie are growing up and discovering their power, and nothing could be more in keeping with the codes of the horror genre as female rebellion and sisterhood.
Laura Obradors makes a movie with a classic cinematic trope: the coming of age story. In this short film, Obradors takes a trio of girls who are having their first confrontations with the difficulties of adolescence: their relationships with the boys they like, the relationships with each other and the ones they have with themselves. The director wants to mix these moments of initiation into adult life with the clichés (in a good way) of fantasy or horror cinema and include notions of female essence and liberation that are in dialogue with elements such as magic and sisterhood.
