Stone of Destiny is a musical animated short that follows the restless journey of a stone in search of its place in the world. Motionless by nature, the Stone longs for movement; solid, it feels fragile. It leaves its ancestral home — where it no longer fits — in search of solace, meaning, and inner peace. Along the way, it encounters mysterious symbols, dreamlike visions, and a pet demon it carries as a living memory of the past. With a distinctive visual style and original music by Johana Novotná (Johuš Matuš), which greatly contributes to the film’s strange, poetic, and playful atmosphere, Julie Černá’s film turns mineral stillness into animated poetry, revealing that even stones — firm, silent, seemingly whole — can yearn for change and embrace the uncertainty of the journey.
