A film by a Palestinian collective about the destruction that Israel is able to cause in its attempt to occupy larger swathes of land. But it’s also about the bond that develops between an Israeli journalist and a Palestinian activist who create a unique alliance.
Can cinema be a refuge for those who suffer? How can filmmakers intervene in this regard? Basel is a young Palestinian who lives in Masafer Yatta and dedicates himself to filming what happens around him. His filmmaking is a way of resisting expulsion and threats from the authorities of the state of Israel. Basel’s documentary gesture, built together with the rest of his colleagues in the collective, constitutes what only cinema can achieve: keeping alive the voices and faces of those who suffer. – Miquel Escudero Diéguez
