Sometimes, the hardest step in a day is the first one. In Loose Sleep, our hero fights a battle against himself: is it worth it to leave the comfort of the duvet and live life outside? By means of a fragmentary narrative, built on dreams and associations, this short film follows the protagonist’s speculation on activity and passivity, the passage of time and the (dis)advantages of being awake.
Between the bed, the flowing water and the nature beyond, there is a movement that flows through the film and drifts freely in a certain aimless current. Rodrigo lets himself go, gets up and lies down, and the rhythm of the images enters a flow that seems to generate a dreamlike current of gentleness, sounds and sensations. Loose Sleep sets the images free, allowing them to be imprinted on the film and projected into further dreams, awakening a world that stirs to the “possibilities beyond the bed” in a constant ebb and flow between in and out.
