(as)sento is a video that reflects on human presence without showing the body. Through images of seats displaced from their usual context and a subtle sound construction, it evokes human action and impact on the spaces we inhabit. The video creates an atmosphere of suspended time, where suggestion matters more than evidence.
In this short experimental film, we return to family outings, picnics with cousins, vacations in the countryside and by the lake, and those long summer days that seemed to go on forever. Large gatherings of family and friends can be seen in this film where, despite the suggestion of so many people, no one is actually visible. What the film shows us is a choreography of chairs, carefully arranged, in which each scene transports us to a joyful memory of our lives and our free time, those moments where there is no room for routines and where every instant is marked by sharing and laughter. It is almost magical how the sound design and the compositions created with outdoor chairs craft the stories that the screenplay allows us to write when it chooses to sketch only the perfect setting.
