Ada has moved with her husband to Hamburg and is well into her pregnancy. The American war correspondent of Polish descent finds herself a little adrift in her new country, until she receives a package that brings with it childhood memories and a mystery. Roksana is an old friend and has dedicated her now-published memoirs to Ada, in which she exposes the sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of her father. Roksana and Ada join forces on a painful adventure in search of answers to these deep wounds.
