Set in a fishing village, this delicate animation is about the weight of loneliness in a community, where humans and animals face the hardships of winter.
We witness the birth of baby kittens to the sound of Godflesh’s industrial rock and are immediately placed in the universe of violence and fragility that constitutes this winter tale set in an isolated, snow-covered fishing community. This inhospitable, icy setting, painted in an imprecise, nervous outline, will be the backdrop for the relationships of interdependence and cruelty being established (between humans, between animals, and between humans and animals). Until, one Christmas Eve, when a heating failure brings the community closer together, the collective memory of unspoken violence comes to haunt and irreparably break this place. Something strange seems to be in the air. (Cláudia Marques)
