A Spanish-French television miniseries — created by Rodrigo Sorogoyen, Sara Cano and Paula Fabra — The New Years corresponds to the New Year but also to the birthdays of Óscar and Ana, who turn 30 on the 31st and 1st respectively. They meet, fall in love and their very different lives become intertwined. The series follows their lives for 10 years.

The series is trying to uncover the subtleties and invisible gestures that occur within a couple. The attempt itself is already powerful. Sorogoyen was able to search for a form that had not yet found a place in his cinema. The actors, Francesco Carril (you may have seen him in Jonás Trueba’s films) and Iria del RÃo (an actress with wonderful talent), are given space to shine. That’s where the best of the series takes place. When we’re in their private space, a true intimacy emerges.
