A journey through the universe of musician and composer Vítor Rua, from pop-rock music to opera, passing through repetitive-minimalism and improvised music.
“Minimalism united will never be repeated!” – the challenge that kicks off this documentary about Vítor Rua, alluding to Telectu, the duo formed by Rua and Jorge Lima Barreto in the early 1980s, one of the first groups to claim affiliation with so-called repetitive minimal music.
A first-person film in which Vítor Rua shares countless captivating episodes from his unpredictable career, as unbelievable as they are realistic, as utopian as they are plausible, featuring plenty of archive footage, as well as various testimonies from Edgar Pêra, Fernando Alvim, David Ferreira and Chris Cutler.
From his journey in minimalist music, through the production of operas, as part of the duo Telectu, as a founding member, guitarist and principal composer in the first line-up of GNR, or as one of the musicians and producers on António Variações’ first album, this is an extraterrestrial journey, beyond Mars, through terrain unknown to mere mortals but deeply natural to Vítor Rua.
