Punishment Park

A group of convicts is subjected to the harshest punishment: crossing a desert with no water or provisions in exchange for the promise of freedom — all while being pursued by particularly brutal military forces. Invited by the U.S. government, a television crew documents the ordeal. The film ran in theaters for only four days before being banned by the Nixon administration, which claimed it presented a distorted image of the United States, strikingly resonant today.
