Urzelina is a half-hearted level crossing keeper. In the middle of the day, she drinks a cup with half milk, half coffee and eats half a toast. It is also in the middle, between the past and the present, that her days are spent in service of the railway line. One day, something different happens in her routine.
Urzelina, Lina, Line. Through her minimalist style and the repetition of her movements — at times circular, at times linear — Margarida Madeira retrieves from collective memory a profession on the verge of extinction: that of the level crossing guard. A job mostly carried out by women, solitary, repetitive, strictly punctual, and the lowest position in the railway hierarchy.
