Radu Muntean, one of the most established directors of the Romanian New Wave, returns to IndieLisboa, this time with a short film. The premise is simple – somewhere in a lost forest, a solitary ornithologist collects material for his research. We don’t know if he lives in a post-apocalyptic world, or if there are simply no more people, but one night, while reviewing the images from his cameras, he comes across a wild child. With a deliberate pace and a palpable tension only a few can achieve, Muntean deconstructs the thriller structure until little more than a skeleton of distant sounds and human fears.
