An animation that proposes something radical: announcing the ecological apocalypse and delivering it by hand. The announcement coming true.
In a desolate and decaying desert setting, two perfectly incompatible teenagers face boredom under a scorching sun. Locked in an empty motel, the tension between them grows as they disagree on nearly everything—whether to lie stretched out in the sun or to go down to the sea. News of an imminent apocalypse blares from the radio, but the terrifying warnings are met with calm indifference, as if the end of the world were merely a distant detail. Yet, there are no safe places: the impending danger of catastrophe ultimately leads them to a distressing, and possibly futile, escape in an attempt to save their lives. Apathy and inaction in the face of the announced environmental disaster: here is a portrait we all know too well, and yet we continue to ignore. (Jéssica Pestana)
After graduating from EMCA in 2016, Camille Monnier took part in the collection En sortant de l’école – Paul Éluard with the mischievous and delicate film Même quand nous dormons (2017). She also collaborates for museums including the BnF and the Fernand Léger museum.
