The CineClub Educational Project – Expansion and Education will carry out training courses for teachers with the support of PNA and APEI and various training centres.
Director Cláudia Alves will lead three accredited training courses entitled ‘Education for Cinema’, which are part of the National Arts Plan portfolio. The courses will have a total duration of 18 hours and will be delivered via e-learning. These training courses are aimed at teachers and will take place at three School Association Training Centres (CFAE) on different dates.
The first edition will take place at CFAE Coimbra Interior, between October and early November. The second edition will take place at CFAE Maia Trofa, at the end of October and during the month of November. Finally, CFAE Templários will host the training between January and early February.
Each course consists of five synchronous 3-hour sessions and one asynchronous 3-hour session, for a total of 18 certified hours.
In addition to these training courses, a new initiative entitled ‘Cinema in Childhood’ is also planned, specifically aimed at early childhood educators, in partnership with APEI – Association of Early Childhood Education Professionals. Currently awaiting approval by the CCPFC (Scientific-Pedagogical Council for Continuing Education), this course has a total duration of 30 hours, which will take place over approximately two and a half months, in an e-learning format, including 11 synchronous sessions and 2 asynchronous sessions.
This initiative stems from the observation that a large number of education professionals are interested in exploring cinema with their classes, attending festivals and educational sessions, but do not always have the necessary tools to integrate cinema into their daily teaching practices. During the course, trainees will have the opportunity to analyse films, develop critical thinking, explore teaching tools and propose activities based on films of their choice. At the same time, this training aims to bring children closer to the art of cinema, invest in the cultural training of teaching professionals and stimulate skills such as curiosity, creativity and critical interpretation of images and sounds.
