IndieByNight – Where Cinema Meets Night!

In addition to the festival’s unmissable programme, especially the IndieMusic section, which sets the tone for the 22nd edition’s parties and moments of celebration, this year we’re inaugurating a new official bar – Noir Désir, in addition to the well-known Casa do Comum. These will be the night-time meeting and socialising points for the festival’s team, guests and audience. When the lights go down in the cinema, the official bar comes alive from 11pm to 2am, extending the spirit of the festival well into the night. Along the way, there will be parties, because dancing is essential.
And the party starts early: on 19 April, IndieByNight joins forces with Estúdio Time Out for a special preview night, in partnership with Filhos do Meio – Hip Hop à Margem, Luís Almeida’s film about Almada rap, which will be screened at the festival. With performances by DJ Fellaz, Juana na Rap and DarkSunn, this will be the first big celebration towards the 22nd edition of IndieLisboa!

IndieDate – Do you like to take risks, live new experiences and meet new people?
IndieDate is for you! An experience for those who love surprises and want to create new connections during the festival. Whether it’s a romantic date or a film friendship. With options for all tastes and expectations, put your destiny in our hands and let us create an unforgettable moment for you. This year, IndieDate presents two unmissable narratives: in El Tema del Verano, three crooks face a fatal mistake and, in their final blow, discover that the line between life, death and love is thinner than they thought; in Vitrival, an apparently peaceful village hides unusual mysteries, while two policemen try to maintain order amid phallic graffiti and unexplained suicides.

Dive into IndieLisboa: Cinema at the Pool is back

For its 22nd edition, IndieLisboa returns to the Penha de França Municipal Swimming Pool, in partnership with the Penha de França Parish Council. The traditional Cinema at the Pool brings an unmissable programme, with two cult films and six short films from IndieJunior. On the first weekend of the festival (3 and 4 May), the public will be able to watch or re-watch The Big Lebowski (1998), a classic by the Cohen brothers starring Jeff Bridges, and ¿Qué he hecho yo para merecer esto? (1984), by Pedro Almodóvar, with Carmen Maura in a memorable role as a housewife. For youngsters and families, IndieJunior presents a selection of films from different countries (Spain, Germany, Czech Republic, Brazil) that explore the theme of parenthood, in a special programme that coincides with Mother’s Day. Come and experience the festival in a unique way!
Mouth of Madness Marathon
Get ready to sweat! The Boca do Inferno Marathon is back at Cinema Ideal, bringing a chilling selection of short films from IndieLisboa’s darkest section. For 346 minutes of pure terror, with an interval to catch your breath, the bravest viewers will have the opportunity to confront disturbing stories, unsettling images and narratives that challenge the limits of fear.
And to round off this chilling evening, the marathon culminates with a screening of Cafè Flesh, a cult film from the 1980s, a restored copy borrowed from the ‘Director’s Cut’ section.
IndieJunior Warm Up

IndieJunior kicks off in style on 12 April, from 2pm to 6pm, at the Goethe-Institut Portugal, an incredible space with a garden and stunning views over Lisbon. The afternoon kicks off with a creative Easter egg decorating workshop run by the Romanian Cultural Institute, followed by the IndieJunior ‘Best Of’ film screening, which includes Boris’s Bakery, winner of the 2024 Audience Award. Then it’s time for outdoor fun, with games, cookies’ hunts and delicious snacks. The event ends at 6pm, but the countdown to the festival continues. Bring the kids and good humour, because this afternoon promises!
IndieJunior
This year’s IndieJunior edition will feature 8 screenings of short fiction, animation and documentary films, all in competition. For the little ones, the Lap Cinema offers a cosy first cinema experience. And for those who like new adventures, Cinema by the Pool invites everyone to an immersive cinema experience, where the stories flow like water! The programme also includes two European feature films, which show the diversity and creativity of animated cinema for children. As well as the films, there’s much more to explore: workshops and fun activities, talks with filmmakers and, as is now tradition, the big Open Air Party for all the family!
