Fnac and IndieLisboa edit the 2nd edition of “10 Portuguese Short Films”
Starting Saturday, April 26, the 2nd volume of the collection 10 Short Films Portuguese FNAC IndieLisboa will be available at FNAC stores and also at the IndieLisboa shops at Culturgest and São Jorge Cinema.
Since 2008 FNAC has sponsored the New Talent Award, awarded to a Portuguese short film director that stands out annually by the quality and artistic freedom of his work. Sérgio Cruz, Carlos Conceição, Gabriel Abrantes and Patrick Mendes are some of the names of winners over the four years. The award helps to highlight a new generation of Portuguese filmmakers who begin to achieve public recognition, nationally and internationally.
In 2011, FNAC and IndieLisboa edited the first volume of the collection "10 Short Films", which proved a hit with the audience and critics. Now comes the 2nd volume, with 10 new movies and the introduction of English subtitles. From the revenue from the sale of the DVD, 5,000 euros will revert to a fund managed by IndieLisboa to be used to support the production of a Portuguese film.
In the first DVD of this 2nd volume you can find the following films: Hommage to Those That Have No Place to Lay Dead by Patrick Mendes (FNAC New Talent Award), Red Dawn by João Pedro Rodrigues and João Rui Guerra da Mata, The Millionaires by Mário Gajo de Carvalho, Hell, Or Pool Keeping by Carlos Conceição and Fire by Miguel Seabra Lopes and Karen Akerman. The second DVD includes: Nameless by Gonçalo Waddington, Weekend by Cláudia Varejão, The Foreigner by Ivo M. Ferreira, Stuart by Zepe, Rooted Foot by João Vladimiro and many extras – interviews with the filmmakers, photo galleries, trailers and music videos.
The DVD will also be presented in the context of the Lisbon Talks, on the "Portuguese Cinema as Seen by Young Talents – Reflection on the Current State of the Portuguese Cinema" discussion, taking place on May 2 at 6:30 p.m., at São Jorge Cinema.
