After the premiere in Portuguese cinemas in Lisbon, La Pivellina, the winner of distribution award Caixa Geral de Depósitos in IndieLisboa’10, will be screened in other Portuguese cities. The next screenings are in Vila do Conde and Évora.
Directed by Tizza Covi and Rainer Frimmel, La Pivellina tells the story of a circus woman and her husband, who find a two year old girl in the trailer park in San Basilio on the outskirts of Rome, where they are living. With the help of another child, they search for her mother.
La Pivellina is a film about a cosmos of outcasts in present-day Italy: a moving tale of courage and discrimination, of loss and togetherness, a look behind the corrugated-iron fence of a gated community.
La Pivellina is distributed by Periferia Filmes.
