Júlio Bressane
This year’s IndieLisboa - International Independent Film Festival will pay tribute to Brazilian director Julio Bressane. By screening 17 of his films in the “Independent Hero” section IndieLisboa will be organizing one of the most complete retrospectives ever made of Breassne’s oeuvre.
The director will be in Lisbon to present the screenings of his films. The work of Julio Bressane is fundamental in the history of Brazilian cinema from the Cinema Novo to this day. The retrospective of IndieLisboa will include such acclaimed titles as “Matou a Família e Foi ao Cinema” (1969), “Memórias de um Estrangulador de Loiras” (1971), “Sermões - A História de Antônio Vieira” (1989), “Cleópatra” (2007) and “A Erva do Rato” (2008). The retrospective is organized in cooperation with the Cinemateca Portuguesa-Museu do Cinema and with the support of the Brazilian Embassy.
