Actor, screenwriter and director, Jacques Nolot occupies the most singular place in the French contemporary cinematographic landscape. With an extensive career as a theater and film actor, Nolot was as recurrent presence on Claire Denis and André Téchiné?s films, two directors with whom he shares deep affinities. Nolot left a personal mark on his contributions being an actor and/or screenwriter. Also his films are defined as being all of them, at least partially, auto-biographical. His radical personal trilogy ? formed by L'arrière pays, La chatte à deux têtes and Avant que j'oublie ? formed a cult for its severity, disdain for the bourgeois moral and bold use of the director?s intimate life. Disliking the influence claiming, Nolot defends amongst his favorites Robert Bresson and Jean Eustache?s films and, in literature, Céline, Tchekhov or Dostoïevski.
